History: The Havanese is a member of the Bichon family. His coat, construction, and lively manner all point to the little white dogs that were so popular with the Spanish centuries ago. The Havanese could be descended from either Bolognese dogs crossed with small poodles, or Spanish owned Maltese. The dogs found their way with the Spanish setters of Cuba, where the breed attained a certain distinctiveness from the other Bichons.
